Our Story

The story of the Wagga Wagga Hindu Temple is one of religion, unity, and community. What began as conversations among a small group of Hindu families has grown into a collective effort to create a welcoming place where people can come together to worship, celebrate festivals, preserve our cultural heritage, and pass the values of Sanatan Dharma on to future generations. Guided by a shared commitment and supported by the generosity of our community, we are working to build a lasting legacy for Hindu families across Wagga Wagga and the surrounding region.

Our community is a vibrant reflection of the global Hindu family. We come from many countries, including Australia, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar (Burma), Fiji, New Zealand, Pakistan and many others. While our languages, customs, and traditions may vary, we are united by the timeless values of Sanatan Dharma. Together, we share one faith, one community, and one home.

Recognising that every community has its own unique traditions and perspectives, we have embraced an inclusive approach to leadership. Our Committee includes representatives from the different Hindu communities that make up our region, ensuring that every voice is heard and every family has the opportunity to contribute to the growth and direction of our Temple. This spirit of collaboration and mutual respect is at the heart of everything we do.

Our vision extends beyond constructing a building. We are creating a place where families can worship, celebrate festivals, teach our children about their heritage, perform sacred ceremonies, and strengthen the bonds that unite our community. The Temple will also serve as a welcoming place where people of all backgrounds can learn about Hindu culture, values, and traditions, fostering understanding and harmony within the wider community.
